Job Title: M&E Project Engineer
Location: Stevenage
Rate: Up to £500 per day Limited Outside IR35 or PAYE Umbrella

Job Description

A contract opportunity has arisen for an M&E Project Engineer to support the delivery of two non-infrastructure wastewater upgrade schemes. This role is site-based and focuses on the successful delivery of mechanical and electrical work packages from early construction stages through to commissioning and handover.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will coordinate design queries, oversee installation progress, manage documentation, and ensure smooth delivery across both sites. This is not a tools-based role—it is ideal for a technically competent engineer who excels in planning, coordination and stakeholder management.

What’s in it for you?

This is a long-term framework opportunity with ongoing workload secured for AMP delivery. You’ll join an established delivery team within a strong project environment offering job security, competitive rates, and exposure to major UK water projects.

Responsibilities

You will oversee the coordination and delivery of M&E packages, working closely with designers, subcontractors and construction teams. You’ll manage early site investigation works, review technical submissions, and ensure buildability and safety considerations are met.

You will take responsibility for RAMS, ITPs, and QA documentation, attend design and progress meetings, support procurement, and assist in managing commercial changes and variations. You’ll also provide programme input, support commissioning planning, and promote a strong safety culture on site.

Requirements

You must have experience in a site-based M&E Project Engineer or M&E Coordinator role within the water, wastewater, utilities or heavy process industry. Strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical engineering principles is essential (either bias considered).

You must be confident managing documentation, subcontractors and technical approvals. An engineering qualification (ONC/HNC/HND/Degree) is required, along with CSCS/ECS. Experience working on MEICA projects and familiarity with CDM, RAMS and construction planning is beneficial.
