Our New Build Housing specialist National Contractor Client is looking to appoint 2 Assistant/Trainee Buyers to support the existing team and progress the role as a career.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well known and well respected company at a rare entry level and although candidates already working as Assistant buyers are preferable, our client will consider those working within similar roles. Further training and on-going development will be provided as required and so we encourage those candidate who feel they have complimentary skills to also apply.

Relevant experience and special skills:

  • Organisation and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Analysis of information and make best value recommendations under pressure.
  • Well-developed in digital presentation / communication skills.
  • Confident in communicating with internal staff and external suppliers using email and telephone.
  • Ability to operate in a changing and busy environment and work within business rules and guidlines.
  • Enjoy meeting new people and developing professional working relationships at all business levels.
  • An entrepreneurial, supportive team player and problem solver will succeed in this role.

Main duties

  • Assisting the Buyer in performing his daily duties
  • Forward planning and scheduling of materials and plant
  • Preparing invitations to tender
  • Sourcing and negotiating best value from existing and new suppliers
  • Ensuring capacity available from preferred supply partners and wider supply chain
  • Managing hired plant and purchased assets across multiple locations
  • Supporting the Aftercare department and organising replacement products
  • Resolving invoice queries with supply chain and Accounts
  • Reporting on all expenditure
  • Administrative work to support all the above
  • Education, training or qualifications
  • Good analytical and communication skills – GCSE Grade 5 or above in Maths & English
  • Operational understanding of Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Outlook

Ideally educated to a Level 3 Construction Design and Build Apprenticeship or similar qualification would be an advantage but not essential.
