By Ganymede

Ganymede have been shortlisted in the Spotlight Rail Awards Cymru 2025

The Spotlight Rail Awards celebrate excellence and innovation across the UK rail industry, recognising organisations and individuals who are driving progress in safety, inclusion, sustainability and performance.

We are proud to have been shortlisted for every category we entered:

  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

  • Person of the Year

  • Commitment to Safety

This recognition reflects our people, our culture, and our unwavering drive to raise standards across the rail industry.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Our nomination recognises the work behind the Ganymede EDI Charter and our company-wide approach to inclusion. Since 2021, we’ve set measurable goals for improving representation, introduced inclusive recruitment training, and established an EDI Steering Group and Champions Network to embed change across our business. Beyond the workplace, we’ve partnered with Women in Rail, supported community football initiatives tackling mental health and inclusion in Wales, and funded girls’ football coaching to empower young people. For us, inclusion is not a statement - it’s something we live every day.

Person of the Year

This nomination honours Jason Crew, Resource Manager at our Ganymede Wales office. Jason consistently goes above and beyond, balancing frontline site support with his leadership responsibilities. From stepping in to supervise critical works to covering unexpected safety challenges at short notice, Jason embodies reliability, professionalism and care for others. He is also a mentor and community football coach, extending his leadership beyond the rail sector. Jason’s colleagues and clients alike describe him as the go-to person in times of challenge, a true example of commitment and service.

Commitment to Safety

“Safety First, Safety Always” is our Ganymede ethos. Highlights include:

  • Our award-winning colleagues like Victoria Richards, who set the standard for safety culture.

  • Quarterly Safety First newsletters that share learnings and celebrate safe practices.

  • Safety Moments and Subcontractor Forums empowering operatives to speak up.

  • The Ganymede App for real-time close call reporting, ensuring faster, proactive interventions.

To be shortlisted across three categories is an incredible achievement, and we are proud that our values of inclusion, leadership, and safety have been recognised in this way. Congratulations to all other finalists, we look forward to seeing you at the awards ceremony later this year.
