I​mproving Operative engagement through the Ganymede App

As one of the leading suppliers of contingent labour services in the industry, the engagement of our Ganymede operatives is of paramount importance. We continuously look for new ways to not only communicate effectively with our workforce, but to ensure that we receive essential feedback that allows us to live our brand ethos of ‘Safety First, Safety Alwaysʼ.

With personnel working for us across the UK on a daily basis, from remote locations in Scotland to the South East of England, we found that we needed to adapt using innovative methods to ensure that we were reaching our workforce in a way that was convenient for them, whilst maintaining our high-quality level of process.

Following discussions with our supply chain at the Ganymede Subcontractor Forum in June 2023, we decided to launch a Ganymede app aimed at our workforce. The purpose of the app is to make it easier for our operatives to communicate with us and receive various safety and operational updates. Using this easily accessible platform, users can raise Close Calls; download Rail Handbooks and briefings; log safety conversations and more. Once submitted, the information is sent straight to the relevant teams within Ganymede and reported, enabling us to act quickly with the best course of action.

The Impact

Since launching the Ganymede app in September 2024, we have received positive feedback from our workforce, seen a considerable improvement in the number of Close Calls raised (49%), as well as a more streamlined process internally for storing and responding to safety discussions.

We are continuously acting upon feedback from our workforce, supply chain and internal teams on how we can add to this platform to benefit all parties. With the chosen platform, we also have the added benefit of facing no development costs for any changes, as all additions are managed and control internally.
