What can you bring to this role?
- A background in transportation ticketing: ideally train travel bus, but other industries within transportation could be considered
- Previous experience within a leadership role: either stepping up from a Team Leader for example or in a similar Deputy Manager, Ticketing Manager role
- Communication! Yes, this is a stereotypical requirement, BUT because you’ll be in an operational and strategic development role, you’ll need to be able to communicate effectively!
What will you be doing as Ticketing Manager?
Operational
This part of your role involves retail support, specifically online ticket sales, iOS/Android apps and smartcards. Passenger revenue is important but also listening and supporting registered users to the new smartcard system, to help maintain and support the current customer pool.
Strategic Planning
As you can tell from above, smartcards are already part of the ticketing method on this rail network, however you will also need to assist in the growth of this method of ticket sales. E-ticketing is the way forward and this network has the opportunity to be the first in its particular field to offer this option. You’ll network with different stakeholders and clients, making the communication element of this role critical to your success!
This role won’t suit someone who hasn’t worked within a transportation environment due to its sole focus around ticketing.
