About the Company 

This company have grown into one of the largest and most successful privately owned construction and development groups in the UK as a result of their commitment to client satisfaction. Over the past five years, they have secured projects with a value of almost £3 billion and over 60% of these were for returning clients. Their construction teams undertake work in the following key sectors, Accommodation, Commercial, Distribution, Education, Health, Industrial, Leisure, Mixed-Use, Retail and Sport. They offer their clients, in both the private and public sector, a national service delivered locally through their specialist regional teams.

This Regional Estimator position is operating out of the Client’s Southern Regional Offices where work has historically centred around the commercial construction market, however in more recent times has taken on more educational schemes as part of multiple government frameworks. Whilst the Regional Estimator will be somewhat involved in the educational frameworks, your work will predominately be operating in the commercial sector on projects ranging in value from £15million to £45million, contributing to the Southern Region’s current turnover of between £140m - £150m annually.

About the Role

Operating out of the Southern offices full-time, the regional Estimator will be reporting directly to the Commercial Director and the Operations Director and will be responsible for running the bid process with occasional work winning responsibilities. Outside of their current framework agreements, the current pre-construction team are tendering for around 1 to 2 new schemes per year however the goal is to move towards tendering for 5 to 6 per year. After these tenders have been put together, you will play a key part is assembling the team that will deliver the scheme. Additionally, you would need to be able to use Conquest Estimating Software although the Commercial Director is keen to move towards another system that is easier to transfer data to and from. Day to day your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing of Tender Documentation
  • Reviewing of Contract Documentation
  • Preparing Take-Offs (not always necessary but need experience nevertheless)
  • Reviewing and comparing the first estimate from the start of the contract to the final price on handover to the Client
  • Read, understand, and implement specific construction regulations i.e., in regard to fire protection etc.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced Estimator (Essential)
  • Experience of the above responsibilities (Essential)
  • Commercial construction experience i.e., office space, commercial building etc. (Essential)
  • Experience estimating on projects valued between £15million and £45million (Essential)
  • Hold a relevant degree (Desirable)

Remuneration

  • Competitive salary of up to £70,000 
  • Company car or car allowance
  • 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
