The role:

You will be reporting to the Engineering Manager, playing a pivotal role in ensuring capability and competencies within engineering team for the midland’s region can be increased.

You will be providing technical assurance and support as the CRE on the project cycle, working from early ‘Grip stages’ through to completion.

You will be appointed to deliver the business plan by supporting the project teams within core disciplines of their engineering team. The main challenge will be on focussing on bringing innovation to the design process and support the planning and construction of the different schemes.

Expectations will be to complete the duties of CRE (Contractors Responsible Engineer) in line with NR/L2/INI02009 on specific schemes throughout the life of the project.

You will be working alongside the project team and supporting them as required during the design cycle. You will work closely the CEM and Project Manager and have direct input into the design process which is crucial to the success of this role. You will be expected to challenge and dispute where you see fit to arrive at the correct solution for each design.

You will need to advise on temporary works projects when appointed and assist with the design and management of the project team.

Works Package Planning process is expected to be provided and signed off to high standards and in compliance with efficiency.

You will carry out critical reviews, audits, site inspections to monitor safety and quality. All findings will be logged and reported.

Quality Inspection Test Plans (QITP), permit to dig Permit to load, lesson learnt etc. are fundamental to this role and must be carried out to the highest of standards.

You must be extremely competent and take a “Right first-time” approach. You will be assisting with programming and technical planning ensuring best value is at the forefront of any works completed.

Carry out engineering health checks periodically to test planning, adequacy, and delivery.

You will be expected to provide support and engage with the pre- construction team in the appointment of the design consultancy. Evaluate the client remints and / or CR-T documentation to gather design deliverables and identify multi-disciplinary interfaces. This will assist with the production of design scope documents and assist with assessment of CTR schedules.

Renumeration:

Basic salary is subject to experience and is accompanied with generous holiday entitlement. They will also upkeep funding for any relevant required tickets and qualification and a path that can lead to chartered status and become extremely lucrative.

You will receive a car or car allowance in the region of £5,000, and a healthy pension contribution from the employer.

A working week will be 40-45 hours a week as standard.

About you:
A CRE who can provide technical buildability support is required to overcome challenges and who is innovative will thrive in this environment. You will need previous rail infrastructure experience as a CRE. A minimum of HND / HNC or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.

You will also require a full and clean UK driving license.
