The Project

This is a rare opportunity to join the early stages of a £30m+ Waste Water Treatment Works upgrade in Buckinghamshire — a major project within the AMP8 programme. It’s an essential piece of infrastructure that will provide clean water to thousands of homes and is part of a secured, long-term pipeline of work with a top-tier contractor.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you’ll support the commercial delivery of this flagship project from pre-construction through to final account. You’ll work alongside a Senior QS and Commercial Manager, gaining exposure to complex packages and client-facing responsibilities, while helping ensure financial performance and contract compliance under NEC3/4 Option C.

This is an excellent development opportunity for a QS looking to step up in project scale and technical challenge, with clear progression into Senior QS and beyond.

⚙️ What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support the commercial management of subcontractor accounts and applications

  • Assist with change control processes and CE submissions under NEC

  • Help prepare cost reports and CVRs in line with project timelines

  • Liaise with operational and engineering teams to maintain robust site records

  • Assist in identifying commercial risks and opportunities

  • Contribute to client communications and stakeholder reporting

  • Ensure timely preparation of applications, notices, and final accounts

  • Learn and develop under experienced commercial leadership

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience working under NEC3/4 Option C contracts (essential)

  • Civil Engineering or Water sector background preferred

  • Strong Excel skills and experience with commercial systems (e.g. CEMAR, Oracle)

  • Good knowledge of subcontract procurement and valuations

  • Motivated, detail-focused, and eager to grow in a high-performing team

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field (preferred)

  • Working toward or recently achieved MRICS/MCIOB (a bonus)

Why This Role?

This role gives you a front-row seat on a major UK water infrastructure project with a business known for long-term thinking, internal promotion, and technical excellence. It’s a chance to step into a nationally important project, gain high-value experience, and work alongside senior leaders who will actively support your progression.

You’ll benefit from:

  • High visibility on a project from inception to handover

  • A clear path to Senior QS and Commercial Manager roles

  • A supportive commercial structure and invested leadership

  • Work/life flexibility via hybrid working

What’s On Offer

  • £45,000–£55,000 base salary

  • Car allowance + full benefits package

  • Hybrid working – 1–2 days per week on site to start, rising to ~3

  • 28 days’ holiday + bank holidays

  • Private healthcare, pension, and structured development plan
