West Midands (Later works in the North East so must be flexible to travel weekly)

£70,000 - £75,000 + Company car/car allowance circa £6,900 + private healthcare

Are you a Senior Project Manager or PM feeling like your role is not providing you with the diversity of work to keep you on your toes? Then you’re in luck because this Joint venture consisting of two main contractors have an exceptional opportunity for a flexible Project manager to work on a long-term framework delivering Highways Restraint systems across the country (predominantly in the Midlands and Northeast).

The Opportunity:

With construction phases expected to start in May, this role is positioned uniquely for a Project Manager who Is keen to see projects through from pre-qualifying stages to completion whilst undertaking a dynamic role on an exciting joint venture. With sites nationwide, you will be expected to travel between them and play a fundamental part in supervising operations and monitoring inspections. Projects will commence around the Midlands area with the bulk of the work moving to the Northeast there afterwards.

In addition to managing the operational aspects of the framework, you will be supporting and reporting on Lean Management, Customer Satisfaction, Social value, EDI so this will involve building positive relationships with all parties associated with the contract and business.

What is expected of me as Project Manager?

  • Ensure that projects are delivered safely, on time, to budget, to the correct quality and in a manner that enhances company reputation. Proactively challenges and seeks solutions to adverse trends or risks that have the potential to impact negatively on delivery targets.
  • Demonstrate pro-active operational management skills in all aspects of project delivery. Ensure that the team has the relevant capabilities to meet the technical requirements of the project. Proactively adapts team / resource / strategy to changing circumstances to minimise risk impact and enhance opportunities.
  • Manage the co-ordination of Client appointed Contractors including Statutory Authorities or other interfacing Stakeholders and ensure compliance with our CDM obligations.
    • Monitor and regularly update the project Cost Plan to ensure that project cost headings are individually monitored and controlled in line with the identified allowances, and that the project as a whole achieves the commercial targets set. This should be done in partnership with the project Commercial representative.
  • Ensure Contract Quality Plan all Inspection and Test Plans and other specific documentation to support Health and Safety and/or Hand Back files, O&M Manuals, etc. are in place.
  • Ensure all Company initiatives and directives are communicated and implemented as required, including arranging and delivering briefings, workshops, stand downs, etc.

Remuneration and benefits

A great benefits package is available consisting of £70,000 – £75,000 basic salary per annum, plus Company car or car allowance (£6,900), 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, Private Medical Insurance etc.

All travel and hotel expenses will be covered.

As a Project Manager delivering works as part of a key framework in the Highways sector it is a given that you will…

  • Have vast experience across smaller highways projects
  • Come from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor
  • Hold relevant technical qualifications
  • Have a proven track record in as a SPM/PM in the highways industry
  • Be flexible to travel to sites circa 3 days a week around the West Midlands and North East
  • Be flexible to undertake occasional night work due to the nature of the projects
