Project Manager – Rope Access, Geotechnical & Civils | Greater Manchester
Location: Manchester (office & site-based across the UK)
Salary: £50,000–£70,000 DOE + benefits
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Holidays: 25 days + bank holidays

We’re working with our client, a nationally recognised rope access and civil engineering specialist delivering everything from cliff stabilisation and rock engineering to complex structural works in difficult access environments.
With new investment, expanding markets and increasingly ambitious projects, we’re searching for a Project Manager who wants more than spreadsheets — someone who thrives where engineering, challenge and commercial leadership collide.
From rapid-response £1k call-outs to multi-million-pound geotechnical schemes, you’ll own delivery end to end, bring fresh thinking and shape how future projects are won and delivered.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll lead and influence work that protects infrastructure, stabilises landscapes and enables access where others can’t:

Manage multiple projects concurrently, ranging from reactive works⚡to schemes £3m+

Plan, cost and programme works, producing accurate budgets and tracking financials throughout delivery

Liaise confidently with clients, suppliers and internal teams — ensuring seamless communication and clear expectations

Oversee site-based delivery teams and supervisors, ensuring safe, compliant and high-quality execution

Support business development and bid preparation where required

Maintain core commercial control — risks, variations, reporting & forecasting

Drive efficiency, collaboration and continuous improvement across every project phase

Candidate Profile
You’ll thrive here if you bring:

Proven project management experience across civils, geotechnical, infrastructure or rope access environments (essential)

Ability to price work, manage budgets and track project margins (essential)

Confidence visiting site, managing crews and checking progress on the ground as well as remotely (essential)

Strong commercial awareness with the ability to juggle multiple live workstreams (essential)

Background in rope access or geotechnical works (desirable)
-
Experience in related markets — e.g. rail, construction, water — to help diversify and innovate (desirable)
