The Opportunity
We’re looking for a proactive and technically strong Project Engineer to join our client, a growing civil engineering and building contractor based in the Midlands.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in Substation builds or Battery energy storage systems (BESS) to take on a hands-on role in delivering impactful infrastructure projects across the UK.
The Company
A well-established, family-run civil engineering and building contractor that has grown steadily through long-term client partnerships. The company operates nationwide, primarily in the energy, transmission, and distribution sectors, delivering critical infrastructure with a focus on quality, safety, and sustainability.
The Role
As a Project Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in the successful delivery of projects from planning to completion. This is a hybrid role with a balance of office-based duties and site visits, requiring strong self-management and a willingness to travel across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Manage your own diary to ensure appropriate site presence during project delivery.
-
Collaborate with site teams to ensure Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) are maintained and completed.
-
Produce and maintain Method Statements and Risk Assessments, including updates throughout the project lifecycle.
-
Oversee cost control, health and safety compliance, and design coordination.
-
Liaise with sub-contractors, monitor financials, and ensure smooth execution.
-
Represent the company on site, maintaining strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, and statutory bodies.
You’ll bring:
-
Strong civils experience, ideally on substation or battery storage projects.
-
A background in project delivery, ideally within Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors.
-
Proven ability to manage projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
-
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
-
A practical approach to problem-solving, risk management, and quality delivery.
