The Role and About You

This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your skills in a high-demand industry that is vital to the UK economy. As a qualified Technician, you will be responsible for keeping a modern fleet of rail vehicles operational and safe.

Whether you're from a background in HGV maintenance, aerospace, plant machinery, marine, the armed forces or industrial maintenance your transferable skills in hands on equipment maintenance are exactly what is needed to maintain a unique fleet of rail vehicles. You will get the chance to use your engineering skills in fault finding, diagnosis, and repair, while gaining new ones in a long-term career in a specialist sector.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum level 3 qualification in either electrical or mechanical engineering – full on the job training is provided to become a competent dual skilled rail vehicle technician
  • Previous work experience in a production or maintenance based engineering role
  • Good team player with strong safety awareness

What you will be doing

Planned Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine servicing, maintenance, and complex repairs on a fleet of specialist rail vehicles.

Reactive Fault Find & Fix: Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime and ensure operational excellence.

General Support: Carry out essential pre-use checks on tools and equipment, and support key tasks such as topping up fuel and sand levels.

Safety Critical Work: Adhere to rigorous engineering standards and procedures, ensuring all relevant documentation and asset management systems are accurately completed.

Expanding Your Skills: Whilst applicants from within the rail industry are welcome the company has an extensive training programme available to help you learn everything you need to know to become a competent rail vehicle technician covering both electrical and mechanical aspects of maintenance.

To join the team, you will need to pass a basic DBS check, a Drugs & Alcohol test, and a full rail standard medical.
