The Company

They are a trusted and respected principal contractor, operating within a range of sectors including Rail, Civils, Demolition, Build and Commercial. With and annual turn over of £750M, this role will be situated within the Rail business, that currently has a £100M turnover. This Tier 1 contractor carries out Rail projects for Network Rail across the UK, projects including Station refurbishments, Access for All, Bridges, Signalling, Platform Extensions as well as Depot builds.

The Ideal Candidate

Rail experience is a must, and it would be preferred that you have previously worked within a Consultancy or Designer although a fellow Main Contractor would also be of interest. You’ll be experienced in CRE Design and Temporary Works, or a Design Coordinator, keen to push your career forward. You will have an appreciation and/or experience of design process/build phases (civil engineering). Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders to provide project updates.

The Role

As the Design Manager, working on this prestigious project worth £5.5M, you will be reporting to the Senior Project Manager, working closely on the early contractor involvement (design phase), supporting bids/tenders, working with designers (internal and external). Once the project is off the ground, there is the flexibility to exercise agile working, with two days on site, and three days from home.

Day-to-day you will be reviewing design drawings and liaising with the project/site teams on how to build. You will be working with the in-house Temporary Design co-ordinating the designs and liaising with site teams to update/advise/feedback etc. works will include the design and erecting of major scaffolding structures in the station pre-build phase.  

The Salary

Basic salary up to £50,000 per annum depending on experience, company car or allowance, annual bonus up to 15%, Company Pension scheme, 25 days + BH (up to 30 days, increasing annually).
