As the increase in nationwide spending in the Civil Infrastructure space this leading rail contractor is looking to being an experienced Senior Buyer to join the growing team. If you are looking for a new position with a company that really values its employees and offers excellent exposure on projects then this could be the opportunity for you!

The Role:

When successful, as the Buyer, you will be reporting into the Lead Buyer. You will be embedded into the commercial team, so there will be multiple lines of contact to the Quantity Surveyors, Estimators and Designers etc.

The role itself will be multifaceted and you will be tasked with a number of strategic tasks, one of the main responsibilities will be identifying and qualifying new suppliers in a bid to increase the number of approved suppliers. There will also be in depth work on tendering, which means stakeholder management is a key piece of the puzzle as you will be working closely with Estimators on each project.

The role itself will focus on developing creative and innovative procurement processes and strategies. Whether this is designing completely new frameworks or working with the existing frameworks and applying an approach of continuous improvement.

The Company:

The business you will be working for as the Buyer is a main contractor in rail who invest heavily in their staff and the long term growth of the business. They are a company that wholeheartedly embrace a culture of best practice, and this shines through in everything they do, and can be seen in the projects they put their name to and the people they bring into their team.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have in depth experience sourcing materials, subcontractors and plant hire for a renowned contractor. Not only this but you will preferably be CIPS qualified, or have another relevant qualification, this is required as you will be developing strategic procurement strategies. Due to the nature of the business and the number of points of contact, you will have excellent stakeholder management skills.
