Safety Moment Events - 2024
Ganymede is pleased to share the success of our 2024 Safety Moment events, which took place across our rail offices in Abercynon and Ashford. Held quarterly, these events offer our rail operatives the opportunity to learn about the latest safety initiatives and industry updates.
The central theme of this year’s events focused on the importance of “Speaking Up” and adhering to the Network Rail Life Saving Rules. These rules are essential for everyone to follow, and the sessions emphasised their significance.

The Kent event featured an inspiring speech from Obhiye Uduebor, Network Rail's Head of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment for the Kent Route. Obhiye spoke about taking pride in our work and the importance of challenging the status quo and speaking up. Additionally, Katie Johnston, CIRAS Stakeholder Manager, gave a presentation on alternative ways to raise safety, health, and wellbeing concerns confidentially.

Gary Lobue, Head of HSEQ, shared his thoughts on the events:
“I so enjoyed the engagement with our frontline workforce, promoting the Ganymede safety, health, and wellbeing initiatives. Thanks to everyone who attended.”
We trust that all attendees found the sessions both useful and engaging. As a business, we are committed to raising awareness and sharing safety messages to ensure the wellbeing of our workforce. The value of these sessions cannot be overstated.
