Ecologist

Rate: Up to £500 a day inside IR35

Contract Length – 6 Months (2 - 3 years)

Location: Glasgow

As the Ecologist you will be working within a Rail environment on Rail infrastructure projects. You will be working closely with site teams and supervisors to help assess each project and their ecological needs and understand if there is anything invasive in that area, then providing advice and suggestions on how to deal with each situation.

Your duties will include;

· Assessing outputs of environmental assessments and reviewing the data from the environmental assessments.

· Ecologist site visits to ascertain the situation and understand what is needed, this may include trough routes and under Rail furniture.

· Assessing whether a licence is required, and then specifically which licence is required.

· Applying / or close to applying for licences concerning GCN and Bats

You may be expected to provide advice on: -

· Great Crested Newts

· Bats

 

As this is a Rail environment it is imperative that this person holds a PTS, or as a minimum has the capacity to go through their PTS.

The right person will have extensive experience working with Nature Scotland (formerly Scottish Natural Heritage) and be extremely familiar with the application process for licences.
