This opportunity offers the stability of a day-based, Monday–Friday role with hybrid flexibility, ideal for engineers seeking variety and long-term development The Opportunity As a Rolling Stock Fleet Engineer, you’ll be the first line of support for a modernElectric Multiple Unit (EMU) fleet, leading investigations into complex technical and reliability issues. You’ll collaborate closely with technicians, suppliers, and engineering teams to keep the fleet operating safely, efficiently and cost-effectively. You will analyse fault data, write detailed engineering reports, manage engineering changes, and provide insights that drive smarter maintenance and higher reliability. This role exists due to an internal promotion, clear evidence of progression within the team. Your Key Responsibilities Investigate and resolve technical, product safety and reliability issues for the Rolling Stock platform. Develop and document cost-effective solutions to improve reliability and availability. Analyse fault downloads and failures to identify root causes and coordinate with suppliers to share findings. Support and mentor technicians in diagnosing complex Rolling Stock faults. Manage engineering modifications and improvements through the change control process. Contribute technical expertise to cross-functional rail engineering projects. What You will Bring NVQ LEVEL 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent Rolling Stock experience.[MD1] Knowledge of railway maintenance procedures and EMU systems. Proven experience in fault finding, diagnostics, and technical report writing. Ability to analyse event data and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings. Confidence working independently while communicating clearly with teams and suppliers. Ability to produce technical report writing, and engineering change documentation. The Company This award-winning operator is looking for an Engineering Team Manager to be a key contributor in their small, close-knit team as they continue its desire to offer the most reliable urban public transport system in the UK. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for the management of performance and leadership for Engineering Technicians. The Role As the Engineering Manager, you will be required to create a collaborative working environment and actively engage with the Infrastructure Technicians, by being physically present and accessible to all team members. You will actively be supporting the Head of Engineering and all Infrastructure Asset Managers to efficiently plan and successfully complete all infrastructure maintenance jobs and support a variety of engineering projects as well as making sure that staff are competent to deliver planned tasks. Main areas of responsibility are: Planning resource of staff and implementing rosters Management of staff welfare, engagement and absence Implementation of staff training and development Managing the Recruitment process Liaise with Trade Unions Support with staff related incident investigations. About you Being an experienced Team Leader / Manager within an Engineering environment, you will be well versed in the carrying out of duties such as resource planning, roster management, plan day and night-shift rosters, job allocation, overtime, annual leave and training. You will manage the team’s sickness, absence, performance, well-being, engagement and employee relations. Develop, implement and manage Engineering Standards Monitoring process. Supervise and manage the team’s workload and ensure safe practice. Manage technical and safety briefings within Engineering Department. You will also manage the development and career progression of Technicians, supporting them with training as well as lead of recruitment and delivering training to new staff. Benefits Salary up to £52,500 per annum, working 40 hours a week on a shift rotation, Free rail travel, 5% bonus scheme and an attractive company pension scheme. The roles involved installing, maintaining and repairing train interiors including windows, seating and fittings while ensuring compliance with safety standards and passenger expectations. A specialist team of Interior Standards Operatives was provided to support the newly formed Service Quality Regime Interior Standards Team, delivering essential maintenance and repair work within train maintenance to uphold high interior standards.Our SolutionThe recruitment was completed within a short turnaround period to meet client demands and support the Service Quality Regime. Contractors were engaged on short-term rolling contracts, aligned to the client's Service Quality Regime audits and funding cycles. Initial Requirement: A team of 7 Technicians to start within 2 weeks, with ongoing talent pooling in place to support fluctuations in staffing needs throughout the project term. Additional Provision by Ganymede: Rail Standard Medical & D&A testing.Full rail depot PPE.
