Are you an experienced technical / Production Manager within an engineering maintenance or production environment, curious about how your career might look in the railway industry?
Ganymede are partnering with a well-recognised UK train operating company who are seeking to hire a Shift Production Manager. Our client, serves the travelling public from London to Essex, operating 25 stations on their line. In 2023, they achieved over 33 million journeys. Of note, they have 80 active fleets in operation, with an ever-growing presence in the railway/rolling stock sector.

They have a good reputation amongst customers as well as employees. The company is also well known in the Railway Sector for their commitment to progressing and developing their staff. This is an outstanding opportunity for either an experienced Production Manager to assume responsibility of large engineering work force or for an experienced production manager from allied industries to take the first step into an exciting career on UK’s railway.
The Role
This specific role is supporting the return to service of the fleets after a range of engineering tasks have taken place, such as servicing, maintenance, exams and also cleaning.
You will be planning, preparing and delivering maintenance activities for your team ensuring service deliverables are met and that fleets operate on time. You will also be tasked with identifying continuous improvement opportunities to enhance service performance.
This is a safety critical role; you will be responsible for leading health and safety behaviours within the depot.
As Production Manager you will also be responsible for the development of your team, identifying training needs and undertaking succession planning to offer routes for growth for high performers.
This is a shift-based role working on a 5on 4 off/4 on 5 off/4 on 4 off rota, with the following hours:
Week 1 - Days, 06:00am – 16:00pm
Week 2 - Lates, 16:00pm – 22:00pm
Week 3 - Nights, 22:00pm – 06:00am
Flexibility is required to work weekend shifts to support engineering maintenance, staff cover etc... Weekend shifts are 12 hour shifts, commencing at 6am or 18pm.

A basic salary of up to £65,801 is available subject to your experience being demonstrated, further benefits are included as below

The ideal candidate will hold valuable rolling stock/railway experience as s Production Manager, be able to demonstrate great leadership, solid organisation skills and the ability to deliver successful results from an engineering perspective.
To enhance your application, you will be able to demonstrate that you;
- Hold a minimum NVQ 3 / apprenticeship in an engineering discipline
- Previous hands-on rolling stock experience
- Experience of leading teams of 30+
- Have excellent knowledge and experience of systems / software within engineering maintenance environments
- Are experienced in planning, developing and delivering maintenance activities to critical deadlines
- Prioritise health and safety, ensuring that all processes and procedures are followed.
This is physically active role, working shifts, within a safety critical environment. As such you will be expected to successfully complete a pre-employment medical (including drug and alcohol screen) in advance of your employment.
