The Opportunity

Working at the early GRIP stages of rail infrastructure projects on the CP6 Framework, you will see yourself working with the Regional Engineering Manager to increase the Engineering competency and capability of the region as well as providing technical support and assurance to the project cycle by carrying out the role of CRE. As CRE, you will have great focus on bringing innovation and challenge to the design process, supporting development throughout the planning and construction phases of individual schemes.

What is expected of me as CRE?

  • Work with the pre-construction team to provide support in the appointment of design consultants and work together to carry out the evaluation of clients remits and/or CR-T documentation to ascertain the correct levels of design deliverables and the identification of multi-disciplinary interfaces.
  • Engage with the Project Team to provide support as required throughout the design cycle. Working with project CEM’s and the Project Manager, input into the design process and challenge to arrive at the optimum design solution.
  • Carry out duties of Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) on projects (where appointed) and advise project teams on the identification, design and management of temporary works.
  • Carry out targeted CRE audits and site inspections to monitor engineering, quality and safety performance and report findings via Alcumus system.

Package:

For this position, the company is offering a basic salary £50,000 to £60,000 per annum dependant on experience, the choice of a company car or car allowance, 26 days holiday + bank holidays with two optional charity days and the option to buy more holidays, funding and support with professional memberships, 4.5% matched pension rising to 7.5%, Life assurance and an Agile working policy.

About you

It is a given that you’ll have acted as a CRE for Construction on Rail infrastructure projects within a main contractor environment. You could either come from a Site background or a Design Management background, as long as you have a proven track record of working at early grip stages of projects and liaising heavily with designers on buildability.

 Ideally, you’ll be somebody with clear, long-term career goals as the culture is a driven environment that persuades people to move up the ladder - in this case up to a CEM!  

  • BSc in Civil engineering beneficial
