The Opportunity

Reporting into the Regional Engineering Manager, you will take responsibility for providing technical advice and support to the project teams across civil engineering rail projects. You will have great focus on bringing innovation and challenge to the design process, supporting development throughout the planning and construction phases of individual schemes.

What is expected of me as Project engineer?

  • The site-based aspect of the role will see you working with Project Management teams to offer site technical support, ensuring that robust and appropriate quality and inspection and test plans are in place and being adhered to.
  • The office-based aspect of this role will see you discharging duties of either PE, CPE, or CRE Construction (under mentorship where required), and to support the project and engineering management teams with the production of critical safety, technical and quality paperwork.
  • You will provide project engineering support to the engineering, project management and site management functions, operating in a technical capacity to assure designs are in accordance with AFC’s, QITP’s are aligned to specification, quality management controls are robust and are recorded through appropriate handback/acceptance criteria and technical methodologies are well developed and safe.
  • Provide support to the project management functions to either produce site safety and technical/quality paperwork such as WPP, TBS, permits or QITP’s and checks for CRE approval; or undertake the review and approval process for these key deliverables, to support the project.

Package:

For this position, the company is offering a basic salary £42,000 to £50,000 per annum dependant on experience, the choice of a company car or car allowance (£4800), 26 days holiday + bank holidays with two optional charity days and the option to buy more holidays, funding and support with professional memberships, 4.5% matched pension rising to 7.5%, Life assurance and an Agile working policy.

About you

It is a given that you’ll be a technically astute professional from a Rail background – whether this is as a Project engineer, Senior engineer, Sub/Site agent, CRE etc with experience working on site.

You’ll have a proven track record working on civil engineering rail projects involving disciplines such as structures, earthworks, platforms, stations, bridges etc.

To fulfil your long-term goals, this position is suited for somebody aiming to progress down the technical route within Engineering becoming a CRE and/or CEM in the future.
