Gateline Assistant

Split Shift Role – Earlies & Lates

Based at Kings Cross Station

6 Month Temp to Permanent Contract



We are working with one of the most prestigious TOCs in the UK, who specialise in train travel from Scotland and the Northeast to London. They are now looking for a Gateline Assistant to join their team based at Kings Cross Station.


The Role:

As a Gateline Assistant, you will be at the forefront of passenger interactions, providing information, assistance, and ensuring a warm welcome for travellers. Your responsibilities include helping passengers with journey enquiries, ticket information, and providing guidance on train times. You will also play a crucial role in ensuring passenger safety while operating the station barriers.

Hours wise, you will be working on a 20-week roster that works on a Sunday – Saturday basis. For early shifts, the very earliest you will start is 05:55am and for late shifts the latest you’ll finish will 20:05pm. On average you will work 35 hours a week.


The Company:

The company you will be joining runs some of the highest mileage routes in the UK. They operate a fleet of 200+ trains and operate over 50 stations across Scotland, London, Northeast England, Yorkshire & the Humber, East Midlands and even the East of England.

Remuneration & Benefits:

This rail company has on offer the following for temporary staff:

  • £13.25p/h rate
  • Possibility to go permanent after 6 months depending on performance 



  • Be able to pass a Drugs & Alcohol test
  • Provide your Right to Work documents before deployment
  • Happy to help mentality/attitude
  • A decent fitness is needed as the role will involve a decent bit of walking, so please keep this in mind when applying
  • Flexibility to work weekends
