Core Responsibilities and Duties:-

  • Management  support of  Infrastructure departments (Roads and Grounds and Airfield Operating Surfaces )
  • Provide Leadership and technical guidance to sub department team leads.
  • Ensure that all reports required by the contract sponsor are submitted in a timely manner with the correct detail as requested.
  • Act as an interface between all departments and the customer/client to ensure compliance with the SoW.
  • Ensure HS&E requirements are met and adhered to in line with the Client HS&E manual.
  • Provide departmental leads with technical advice and reassurance during works.
  • Monitor and approve stores requests in line with the SoW and budgetary requirements.
  • Capture trends and improve and implement better working practices as they are identified.
  • Ensure that work orders and routine maintenance works are in line with the sponsors’ requirements and in line with the SoW as required.
  • Monitor and nominate personnel to conduct out of hours call outs are actioned as per time limits dependant on the job priority.
  • Ensure that all PMP works and associated paperwork are up to date and monitored in line with PMP works orders.
  • Ensure that training and competencies are up to date and monitored as required.
  • Supervise and plan plant & equipment use for all operating areas within the APOD.
  • Implement, supervise and monitor all HS&E requirements and daily activities.
  • Be responsible for maintenance and serviceability of all APOD plant & equipment.
  • Supervise maintenance and repair of all airfield operating areas, roads and grounds.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:-

Essential:

  • Previous Supervisory experience of maintaining and repairing pavements (ac & pc) and civil/military airfields. (construction background)
  • Valid Driving licence.
  • Experience managing a team of 40+ Operators and support staff from mixed nations.
  • Capable of managing and working with English speaking multi-national workforce.
  • Experience of working within UK Health and Safety at Work (HSAW) legislations including a proven track record of identifying and understanding the actions required to resolve hazards and unsafe practices in the workplace.
  • Capable of gaining NATO Secret security clearance.
  • ONC/HNC/NVQ 3 or 4 or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject – e.g. Mechanical / Construction engineering.
  • Capable of passing detailed medical

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of military airfield operations and services would be an advantage.
  • A1/V1 assessor/verifier. (Plant equipment)
  • Be familiar with NATO, ICAO and ISO terminology.
  • Experience of working on operations in austere remote sites or in developing nations.
  • Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS)
