Are you a Bid Manager firmly in need of a new and exciting challenge which will provide you with a versality of work across several sectors? Or perhaps you are looking for your route into an esteemed main contractor who turnover hundreds of millions worth of business year on year? If so, then keep reading because this award-winning company have an opportunity for you to join their rail division and get stuck into their busy pipeline. Not only will you be working on projects in the rail sector, but you will also see yourself having input across Aviation, Environmental, and Highways projects.

The Opportunity

You will be joining a busy unit of the business, operating predominantly on Asset Management and Maintenance frameworks throughout the Northwest. Due to the small sized and high in volume projects, you can expect to see yourself running up to five bids concurrently with an average turnaround time of 5 weeks from PQQ to tender submission. Whilst the main chunk of your role will be on rail projects, you can expect to see yourself getting involved with Aviation frameworks and having close interface with the companies Aviation unit.

What is expected of me as Bid Manager?

  • You will work closely with the Pre-Contracts Manager and Regional Directors to ensure that business and work winning opportunities are identified and fully exploited.
  • You will manage and complete prequalification documentation.
  • Run the bid management of tenders, ensuring development of appropriate proposals and responses in a timely manner.
  • You will effectively coordinate submissions and proposals input from supporting authors and bid teams.
  • Attend prequalification and bid/tender meetings as required.
  • Chair key tender progress and settlement meetings.
  • Monitor tender feedback from the client ensuring that opportunities to improve the company’s success are acted upon.
  • Work closely with the Work Winning Director and regional Directors to develop processes and help to implement any business improvement initiatives.

Established as a key supplier to some of infrastructures biggest clients, you will be joining a Tier 1, award-winning provider of engineering services into the environmental, rail, highways, waterways, and utilities sectors. This company turnover more than £300million a year and are recognised as being helpful, professional, and innovative contractors. As part of this team, you will be expected to lead continuous improvement initiatives that will increase engagement and profile with key customers that optimise works delivery.

Reward and Renumeration

The company are offering a generous package of £46,000 - £60,000 basic per annum DOE, company car or car allowance, 25 days holiday + BH, Healthcare cash plan, life assurance, and 5% pension.

The company also supports its employee’s growth so they will support and finance any addition training or qualifications and will do the same for candidates wishing to pursue Chartered status.

You will be expected to successfully perform in this role for 12 months however, following that, there will be vast progression opportunities available including future roles in Pre-contracts Management.

About You

To meet the higher end of the salary banding, it is essential that you’re an established Bid Manager working for a Tier 1 or 2 contractor within the rail industry. You will have a proven track record of working concurrently on projects.

You could also be a Senior Agent or Project Manager who has been instrumental in running bids within the rail industry on civil engineering projects.

The company will also consider you if you come from other civil engineering industries, a consultancy, or have progressed to Bid manager from a ‘writer’ route - this will see you fall at the lower end of the salary bracket.
