Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Avonmouth

£35,000

As we continue to see massive growth in the rail sector, main contractors are continuing to look for and bring in the best talent into their teams. As such a huge player in the rail space is looking to expand its offering in the Southwest, they are looking to bring an ambitious and driven Assistant Quantity Surveyor into the team.

The Role:

When successful, as the Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will be reporting into the Managing Quantity Surveyor. In this multi-faceted position, you will be tasked with working on a high number of live projects, these could be smaller projects like building repair works, moving up to canopy repair works and platform resurfacing.

You will also be indirectly leading the Commercial Assistants; this will include delegating tasks as well as mentoring them and sharing your knowledge with them. You will be working very closely with Network Rail to deliver on their repair contract, but you will also be supporting the clients wider rail delivery team.

Some of the finer details of the Quantity Surveyor include:

  • Compiling CVR’s and assisting with presenting them
  • Providing bi-annual commercial reports to clients and senior commercial team
  • Managing and processing payments to sub-contractors
  • Speaking with suppliers and sub-contractors to establish cost
  • Processing contractor, labour and sub-contractor timesheets and factoring into cost analysis

The Company:

The business is one of the nation’s most recognisable contractors with a turnover of over £1 billion a year and the rail division boasts a Principal Contractor Licence allowing them to work directly for Network Rail. They have previously delivered landmark rail buildings to award winning station redevelopments across the country.

The Remuneration:

The position is paying from £35,000 to £45,000 and comes with a 5% pension and a company car or allowance.

About You:

You will be from a rail background, with relevant quantity surveying qualifications, ideally with previous experience mentoring more junior professionals. To be successful in this position preferably you will have experience of both pre and post contract.
