Putting Safety into Action: Our Rail Safety Week Pledge Board

By Ganymede

Rail Safety Week provides an opportunity for the industry to come together and think about what safety means in practice. Not just through policies and procedures, but through the choices we make every day.

At Rail Live 2026, we wanted to create something that encouraged visitors to stop for a moment and reflect on their own contribution to a positive safety culture.

To support Rail Safety Week, we introduced a pledge board on our stand and invited visitors to make a personal commitment towards creating a safer working environment wherever they go.

What started as a simple idea quickly became one of the most engaging parts of our stand.

Throughout the two days, visitors took the time to read the pledges already displayed, share stories from their own experiences and add commitments of their own.

Some focused on supporting colleagues, pledging to

"Always be a shoulder to lean on #MatesinMind."

Others reinforced the importance of taking a moment to pause and reassess, writing;

"Take 5! Life saving rules!"

Several visitors highlighted the need to speak up when something does not seem right, committing that;

"If I see it, I will say it!!"

while others emphasised the value of communication and understanding by pledging to

"Listen and ensure full understanding of all site safety briefings."

The board created an opportunity for conversations that may not otherwise have happened at a busy industry event. Visitors spoke openly about the importance of speaking up, learning from incidents and ensuring safety remains a priority regardless of role, location or experience, to ensure everyone returns home safely at the end of each shift.

The enthusiasm shown by those who took part demonstrated just how willing people are to engage in conversations about safety when given the opportunity. It was encouraging to see so many professionals from across the rail sector sharing ideas and commitments, all united by the common goal of ensuring everyone returns home safely at the end of every shift.

Thank you to everyone who visited our stand, shared their experiences and added a pledge to the board.

Together, these small pledges represent a collective commitment to making our industry safer, stronger and more resilient, reflecting Ganymede's values and our belief that Safety First, Safety Always should underpin everything we do.
